the fall.

i have been stuck at home so far this summer minus a short trip to palm springs with my sister and mom which was lovely, and although half of my friends are a zillion places around the world, i have managed to have a pretty activity filled week at home in sunny lc and so far summer is treating me very well.

i have seen 3 movies, 1 musical {'in the heights.' so good. see it if at all possible. i promise you won't be disappointed. a 2008 tony award winner. special thanks to rishi} , baked 1 pizookie, gone to the beach, gone to lunch with a friend, played some board games, gone adventuring around LA, laid out by the pool, gone on a walk, and had a date night with my lil bro.
yes, summer is wonderful and i am thankful for it. i am also thankful for the small tan i am starting to acquire. makes me realize just how white i was before <:)

most recent movie seen: Toy Story 3 in 3D. really really good. made me cry...standard. but very touching. i also loved the short movie in the beginning called "day and night". i think one of my favorites of pixar's so far!
ah and i went dorm room shopping yesterday. who knew there was so much stuff i needed? although fun and exciting, i must say a bit overwhelming. but i am now a proud owner of my very own bamboo cutting board and stainless steel knife, (some of the random things i didn't know i needed) which will hopefully serve me well for years to come :)

also, this is amazing. be sure to check it out.

hope your summer is treating you as well as mine is treating me!

oh and i start work on tuesday. taking care of 3 adorable kids all under the age of 7 for 8 hours, 3 days a week. wish me luck :) i know ill need the energy.

xo, k

one more thing. this song is my new obsession. i love the chorus. check it out on itunes too.

ok i lied. one more thing. yes!.. i graduated! still strange to think about, and even though its only been a week, it seems much longer. weird how that is. high school was good to me, but im getting more and more excited for the next phase in my life. college here i come!

highlight your life.

so i realize its been a month since i last posted, but i have been a busy busy bee, mainly because of a little play call les miserables {which was so so much fun, just a little time consuming. i was in the ensemble, consisting of roles such as a revolutionary woman, prostitute...a personal favorite to play tehe...and a bandage lady}.
but in any case i am back now and ready to blog my summer away! :)
i currently have 1 day left of school which is just so surreal. where did my high school experience go? since when did this happen? its scary, and weird, and exciting, and sad all at the same time, and i think the cliche phrase 'bittersweet' is the perfect way to describe it.

this has been a simply wonderful year and i'd like to share some of my highlights.

scooter to school day 1st dress up day
senior girls TP night mississippi h4h trip
spontaneous adventures with these two
bridge LSU trip with dad
spontaneous SNOW DAY with megan christmas tradish
some snuggie fun with jules hahamungna hike with family
car camping :) with kel and mary (not pictured) backwards dance adventures
catalina sr. trip prom
my 5th grade class teacher aiding. please note what the little girl wrote :) so precious.

thank you senior year for being so great.
...graduation week here i come! ahh

i hope this finds you in happiness health and love xoxo

glass door knobs.

someday i will live in a house that has glass door knobs.

i don't really know why but {this} reminds me of sitting in the parlor of an old victorian house, (which has glass door knobs of course) sipping tea and eating crumpets on a sunny, spring afternoon.

i hope you are having a lovely day xoxo

ps. so i know this is a really random post but i love brooke waggoner and wanted to share her with you, and it seemed that the topic of glass door knobs kind of went with her. <:)

sandy toes.

{wouldn't it be nice} click please.
this phrase was first coined as a song by the legendary singing group the beach boys, about 45 years ago {in 1966}. "In a 1996 interview, Wilson stated, "'Wouldn't It Be Nice' was not a real long song, but it's a very 'up' song. It expresses the frustrations of youth, what you can't have, what you really want and you have to wait for it.' " {yes i actually went to wikipedia to find the date in which the song was first sung, which, while were on that, can you believe its been 45 years since that song 1st came out?? anyway, and while on wiki. found that quote from brian wilson and liked that that's what he said the song was actually about since i was basically thinking the same thing...although its really not rocket science based on the lyrics...}
but anyway so i was listening to this song today while watching a movie with some friends and it struck such a cord with me. previously in the day i had been doing something which i hate to admit i do sometimes, although i suppose most everybody does it some point or another, but i found me pitying myself. and i was pitying myself over things of which i will not divulge to you at this time, however i will say that it was over something i later realized was pretty insignificant in the long run. hearing the words "wouldn't it be nice" made me think. yes, yes it would be nice if i could have 'blank' but i can't so whats the point of being upset about it?
there are so many things i want at the moment, that i just can't have. and some of the things i know i'll never have and some things i know i'll just have to wait for. waiting seems to be the hardest. i think the reason is, is because i want to just fast forward to a time in my life where i can have that thing, however i don't want to wish my life away. so, as you can imagine i'm in a pretty tricky state of mind at the moment. i feel like thats how a lot of people feel though. and that got me thinking why is it that we wish for so many things when we already have so much? why do we pity ourselves over something that can't be changed? and that leads to the age old wonder of why we are so unhappy with what we already have. why was i feeling so sorry for myself about this one thing when 99% of my life right now is pretty wonderful? and furthermore why was i letting it get me so down?
after thinking about this i decided to stop stressing over my earlier quandary and decided to be happy about the things that were good in my life. focus on the good. it always makes a day brighter.

wouldn't it be nice. wouldn't it be nice if there wasn't so much to pity ourselves about?wouldn't it be nice if there wasn't so much hurt? wouldn't it be nice if the world was black and white?..would it be nice?..no i like that the world has color, even if that color does leads to hurt every once in a while. it makes the life we live, worth living. makes the good, so good. it makes life interesting, and interest is always a good thing to have.
{because its appropriate for a beach boys topic...and because i visited the beach yesterday and it was just heaven}
this was taken on a recent trip to san luis obisbo.

i hope this finds you in happiness, health and love xoxo

it's a wonderful life

so i realize that this post may be better for christmas season but oh welll.

i think the following quote is probably one my most favorite lines in any movie ever. just felt like sharing it.

George: What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.

Mary: I'll take it.

-"its a wonderful life"

{..Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight, And dance by the light of the moon}

every time i watch that movie those lines get stuck in my head. i love them.

and speaking of that movie might i just throw out there that it really is a wonderful life.

some people who make my life wonderful. {there are many more than those shown here}

{sister love.}

{speaking of christmas...annual christmas party. love.}

{friends}

{family. minus madre}
{little baby cousin mena. :) doesn't she look like a little porcelain doll??}

i hope this finds you in happiness, health and love xoxo
